Gamborg's B5 medium (1968) features a lower ammonium-to-nitrate ratio than MS, making it preferred for cell suspension cultures, legumes, and protoplast work. Particularly effective for soybean, barley, and species sensitive to high ammonium levels. Often used with low 2,4-D for callus induction or BAP for shoot organogenesis.
