Lab tool
A pressure sterilization chamber that kills microorganisms, bacterial endospores, and viruses using saturated steam at 121°C and 15 psi. The essential piece of equipment for sterilizing culture media, glassware, and instruments. Standard cycle: 121°C, 15 psi, 15–20 minutes for liquids; use longer cycles for larger volumes. Verify sterilization periodically with biological indicators (Geobacillus stearothermophilus spore strips) or chemical autoclave indicator tape.
High pressure and high temperature equipment. Follow the manufacturer safety manual at all times. Never attempt to open the autoclave while pressurized — confirm the pressure gauge reads zero before opening. Wear heat-resistant gloves when unloading hot material. Inspect the door gasket and safety valve regularly. Report any unusual sounds or valve behaviour before next use.
