Lab tool
Standard surgical scalpel handle (Bard-Parker #3 pattern) accepting #10, #11, and #22 blade types. In tissue culture, #11 blades (pointed straight) are most commonly used for precise meristem dissection and node cutting; #22 blades for larger explants. The stainless steel handle is autoclave-sterilizable. Always cut on a sterile surface (ethanol-flamed aluminum foil or sterile filter paper) and away from hands.
Sharps hazard when a blade is mounted. Always attach and remove blades using a blade-removal tool or forceps — not bare fingers. Confirm the blade is fully seated before cutting. Carry and pass scalpels with the blade pointing away from people.
